The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted Basic Gender and Development (GAD) orientation and Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) for more than 200 PCG personnel at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila on 24 to 25 March 2022.

Resource speakers were Captain Venus Gualdaquever of the Civil Military Operations Group, Philippine Navy (PN) and the first Executive Director of PN WAVE; and Ms. Ma. Bernadette Garcia Luminario, former GAD Policy Researcher Analyst in  the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and GAD Section Specialist in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Intelligence Services.

During the activity, gender issues in the workplace and at home were discussed to provide awareness and mentorship. The resource speakers also shared best practices to foster respect and obedience among PCG personnel.

Chief of Coast Guard Staff, CG Commodore Tito Alvin Andal graced the closing ceremony of the said initiative jointly organized by the PCG Office of the Command Master Chief, Assistant Command Master Chief for Women’s Affairs, and the PCG GAD Office in celebration of the National Women's Month.
