PCG: Five fishermen were rescued by elements of the Philippine Coast Guard from two separate incidents in Baung, La Union last Tuesday, March 17. 

The first three survivors were onboard M/Bca Kim Trystan when it was hit by rough seas and submerged at the vicinity waters of Barangay Pilar, Baung. 

Upon receipt of said report from Mike Sarate of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Fernando immediately conducted a search and rescue operations for the victims identified as Jony Sabado, 35 years old, Manuel Pascua, 56 years old, Edmund Cura, 34 years old.

While on their way back, the Coast Guard sighted two more fishermen waving for help 21.6 nautical miles off the shoreline of San Fernando, La Union.

The team approached M/Bca USB 2 and found out that said boat encountered engine trouble while the men were fishing.

The fishermen were identified as Silohon Echavez , 23 years old of Barangay Balingasay Pangasinan and Laven Lopez, 20 years old of Claveria, Masbate. 

The Coast Guard towed the Mbca USB 2 with the two fishermen onboard to the shoreline of San Agustin in San Fernando, La Union.
