The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to establish a training center in Escalante City, Negros Occidental following the signing of DEED OF DONATION for a SIX-HECTARE PUBLIC LAND located at SITIO CAGAY, BARANGAY LANGUB, ESCALANTE CITY yesterday, 29 September 2021.
Leading the signing ceremony were PCG District Western Visayas Commander, CG Commodore Hostillo Arturo R Cornelio and Escalante City Mayor Melicio J Yap.
During the event, Mayor Yap emphasized the importance of PCG in safeguarding the vicinity waters and securing the THREE PORTS of Escalante City that serve as MAJOR GATEWAYS TO CEBU where maritime risks, security issues, and vessel traffic are high.
“We are confident that the PCG will utilize this land to further strengthen their presence and expand their public service in Escalante City,” Mayor Yap furthered.
For his part, CG Commodore Cornelio thanked the local government for its support, trust, and confidence in the men and women of the Coast Guard.
“This donation occurred at a significant time as the PCG currently pursues modernization through the expansion of its infrastructure and increasing its manpower,” the PCG District Western Visayas Commanded shared.
“This development will not be possible if not of the generosity of the local government that recognizes the active role of the PCG in providing humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people,” he expressed.
