The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Cagayan has responded to an illegal salvage operation to MV Changhong at Barangay Tallungan, Aparri, Cagayan on 10 November 2021.

The PCG team conducted surveillance to verify the report and proceeded to the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Maritime Group Aparri for augmentation. The joint maritime law enforcement team spotted nine individuals conducting salvage operations without a salvage permit from the PCG.

The team advised them to stop the said operation and confiscated their salvage equipment which included the following: one unit of outlet hose, six cutters with hose, two units of 70kg LPG loaded, two units of 50kg LPG loaded, three units of 13.5kg LPG loaded, 14 units of 70kg oxygen loaded, eight units of 70kg oxygen unloaded, and one unit of water pump.

The joint maritime law enforcement team brought the head security guard of the Itawes Security Proactive Agency, 45-year-old Alejandro Reduca for further investigation.
