The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Ubay has responded to a maritime incident involving four passengers and two crew members of a half-submerged motorbanca at the vicinity waters off Lapinig Piñahon, Ubay, Bohol at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, 02 December 2021.
The distressed motorbanca, MBCA Whener James departed from Port of Ubay going to Port of Pitogo in President Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol when it encountered strong winds and big waves that damaged the bow portion of the motorbanca’s starboard side.
The PCG launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation and safely brought the distressed individuals in good physical condition to the shoreline of Barangay Sentinela, Ubay for further assistance.
