The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) holds its 37th National Convention in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu today, 22 July 2022.
Approximately 1,500 PCGA officers and members participate in the said event until tomorrow, 23 July 2022, which coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the PCG’s civilian volunteer arm.
PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu graces the opening ceremony and welcomes Coast Guard partners from all over the country who signify their intention to strengthen their collaboration and intensify their initiatives toward supporting the performance of PCG mandates in service to the Filipino nation.
With the theme, “Dynamic Synergy at 50 and Beyond – a Key to Proactively Protect the Environment and Serve the Community,” the 37th National Convention aims to build stronger ties between the PCG and the PCGA in upholding maritime security, maritime safety, maritime law enforcement, maritime search and rescue, and marine environmental protection – all while performing humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in times of maritime accidents, typhoons, and other calamities.
