The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Western Visayas spearheaded the SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR) EXERCISE in the vicinity waters between Iloilo and Guimaras today, 12 August 2022.

This was to develop an updated SAR Contingency Plan and enhance the SAR capabilities of participating government agencies.

The activity also aimed to maintain the highest operational readiness among PCG personnel, specifically in responding to maritime incidents and ensuring maritime disaster preparedness.

PCG District Western Visayas Commander, CG Commodore Edgar  Ybañez, led the SAR exercise.

Participating government agencies included BRP Enrique Jurado (PC-371), Joint Task Force Spear, 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Office of Civil Defense VI, RDRRMC VI, Philippine Red Cross Region VI, Iloilo Watercraft Association, PCG Auxiliary, Department of Health, Bureau of Customs, Philippine Port Authority VI, Bureau of Fire Protection Region VI, Police Regional Office VI, and PNP Maritime RMU VI.
