The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recovered the remains of one missing passenger of MV LADY MARY JOY 3 in the vicinity waters off Sicagot Island in Basilan yesterday, 04 April 2023.
He was identified as Mr. Anacleto Ponollero Jr., a resident of Sta. Catalina, Zamboanga City.
The PCG turned over the remains to MDRRMO Maluso for proper transport to Zamboanga City.
As of 6AM today, 05 April 2023, the PCG recorded 29 casualties / deaths due to MV LADY MARY JOY 3's fire onboard incident on 29 March 2023 — 17 recovered on board the vessel and 12 recovered at sea.
The survivors remained at 216.
Based on the passenger manifest, there were 205 passengers on board (20 of the 25 Army personnel on board were included on the list).
It also had 35 crew members, four PCG personnel, and five other Army personnel on board when the maritime accident occurred — bringing the total number of affected individuals to 249.
As of press time, the PCG continues its search and rescue / retrieval operations to look for the four missing individuals in the vicinity waters.
