The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored a maritime incident involving a tugboat and fishing banca that collided in the waters one nautical mile off Caballo Island (near Corregidor Island) yesterday, 19 April 2023.

The two fishermen on board FISHING BANCA J. BERMAN were on a fishing venture when the accident occurred.

Malaysian-flagged TUGBOAT ATLANTIC 6 was conducting towing operations to BARGE ATLANTIC 7 when it collided with the fishing boat.

The fellow fishermen in the vicinity waters rescued the two victims while FISHING BANCA J. BERMAN foundered.

The rescued individuals (in good physical condition) boarded TUGBOAT ATLANTIC 6, which ferried them to the anchorage area, where they boarded another fishing banca.
