The men and women of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) welcomed three Priests, two Pastors, and one Imam into the Coast Guard service today, 10 July 2023.
PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, presided over their donning and oath-taking ceremony at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
They received the rank of "Lieutenant," together with two Veterinarians.
Moreover, 11 Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) and Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) graduates were commissioned into the Coast Guard service with the rank of "Ensign."
"We place in your hands the responsibility of leading your respective units as we leave the COVID-19 pandemic behind and welcome the new normal," CG Admiral Abu said.
"The responsibility given to you is not to be taken lightly. This will take effort, strength, and mental fortitude," he added.
The Coast Guard Commandant also urged them to possess the PCG's core values — 𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 — and become R-esponsible, A-ccountable, D-isciplined, I-nspiring, A-ble, T-eam player, and E-xcellent servant leaders.
"To our newest officers, I expect you to perform your role in the PCG family with excellence and nothing less," CG Admiral Abu concluded.
