The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has apprehended a suspect in possession of approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as "shabu," with an estimated market value of ₱102,000 in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, on 23 January 2024.
He was identified as 32-year-old Mr. Farhasis Mohammad Sali, a resident of Barangay Pag-asa, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
The Coast Guard K9 unit in Tawi-Tawi inspected the crystallized substance and yielded a positive result.
The Coast Guard Station Central Tawi-Tawi coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency BARMM, Bongao Municipal Police Station, and Maritime Police Station Tawi-Tawi for processing, inventory of evidence, and proper case turnover.
As of press time, the suspect remains under the custody of Bongao Municipal Police Station while awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Regional Port Management Authority (RPMA) Bongao also augmented the anti-illegal drug operation.
