The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recognized the two Iconic Coast Guard Juanas during the National Women’s Month Closing Ceremony 2024 at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, today, 25 March 2024.

CG Commodore Mitzie Silva-Campo was recognized as the Natatanging Juana ng Tanod Baybayin ng Pilipinas β€œGinto” while CG Commander Angela Tobias was recognized as the Natatanging Juana ng Tanod Baybayin β€œTanso.”

The said female officers were recognized for being the Juanas who continuously provide exceptional Coast Guard service .

Moreover, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Deputy Executive Director for Operations, Ms Maria Kristine Josefina Balmes, pinned the Coast Guard Gender and Development (CGGAD) Badge and GAD Focal Point System Badge (GFPS) to the following Coast Guard officers in promoting gender equality within the organization:

1. CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr

2. CG Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega

3. CG Rear Admiral Hostillo Arturo Cornelio

β€œAs we celebrate this significant occasion, let us reaffirm our pledge to advance gender equality and women empowerment in every facet of our work. Together let us continue to champion diversity, break down barriers, and inspire future generations of Coast Guards," Ms Balmes emphasized.

During the event, Deputy Commandant for Operations, CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr expressed in his speech, β€œTogether let us continue the voyage ashore waters of progress, guided by the principles of inclusivity, respect and empowerment. As we bid farewell to the National Women's Month 2024 Celebration, let us carry forward the spirit of reflection, celebration and action in our ongoing pursuit of gender equality."
