The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability as its men and women welcomed Mr. James Christopher Banaag, the incoming Supervising Auditor of the Commission on Audit (COA) Region IV-A, at the CGDSTL Headquarters in Batangas City on 10 October 2024.
According to the District, the meeting marked a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and COA in upholding fiscal responsibility and operational integrity.
βThe COA entrance briefing focused on the effectiveness of internal control systems, particularly those impacting accounting and financial reporting processes, financial accountability, and operational transparency,β the CGDSTL furthered.
In his remarks, Mr. Banaag shared a forward-looking perspective on the Commissionβs evolving role and assured the PCG of COAβs commitment to supporting its mandates and missions.
He also acknowledged the PCGβs crucial role in national security, public safety, and maritime governance and emphasized that COA is open to communication in providing excellent public service.Β
For his part, CGDSTL Commander, Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla PCG, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, reiterating the importance of strong collaboration in ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
On behalf of the CGDSTL Commander, CGDSTL Deputy Commander, Captain Jerome Jeciel PCG, expressed that COAβs presence at the District symbolized their collective dedication to upholding high standards of fiscal responsibility and operational integrity within the organization.
