The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel, BRP Boracay (FPB-2401), has aided five fishermen of FBCA Prince Elmo 2 in the vicinity waters off Corregidor Island yesterday, 19 February 2025.
Prior the said undertaking, Coast Guard District National Capital Region - Central Luzon, through Coast Guard Station Bataan, received information from Port State Control (PSC) Bataan at 08:15 PM on 16 February 2025, regarding the reported rescue of the said fishermen by MV DONG AN in the vicinity and waters off Vietnam.
Accordingly, on or about 8PM on 30 January 2025, an unidentified vessel rammed FBCA Prince Elmo 2 at an unknown location.
At 3:15 PM on 16 February 2025, only five fishermen who were on the bow of the boat were rescued by the MV DONG AN while the three others were still missing.
Further, through the coordination of CGS Bataan with Mr. John Sayao of Atiko Trans Incorporated, agent of MV DONG AN, the five fishermen were successfully received by BRP Boracay and were also turned over yesterday at 08:53 AM to Coast Guard Sub-station Naic and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Naic personnel.
