The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) successfully concluded its 10-day Maritime Casualty Investigation Training in Batangas City yesterday, 06 December 2024.
The training was attended by 32 personnel from various stations under CGDSTL and provided comprehensive lessons on the techniques and processes involved in maritime casualty investigations.
Key topics included determining the causes of maritime accidents, evidence analysis, and formulating recommendations to prevent future incidents.
Participants also underwent training on crucial aspects such as accident scene management, the significance of investigations, evidence collection, and legal procedures under maritime law. These sessions were designed to enhance the participants' skills and ensure their readiness to conduct thorough and effective maritime inquiries.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony led by CGDSTL Commander, Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla PCG, who underscored the importance of continuous training to uphold maritime safety.
In his remarks, Commodore Tuvilla highlighted the program's role in strengthening the Coast Guard's capacity to investigate maritime accidents, mitigate risks, and safeguard lives and property.
The said training was facilitated by the Maritime Safety Services Command - Maritime Casualty Investigation Service.
