To intensify efforts against the proliferation of illegal drugs and contraband within correctional facilities, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), has conducted a Joint Greyhound Operation, today, 27 December 2024.
This occurred at the Batangas City Jail Male and Female Dormitory in Barangay San Jose-Sico, Batangas City.
The operation, led by the Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit – Southern Tagalog, utilized highly trained Narcotics Detection Dogs (NDD) to identify and confiscate illegal drugs and other prohibited items.
The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) said this proactive initiative aimed to enhance the security and safety of the facility while addressing illegal activities within correctional institutions.
"The PCG reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the BJMP to bolster peace and order within correctional facilities nationwide," the CGDSTL furthered.
