The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) arrived at Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi, Thailand for its three-day port visit today, 01 April 2025.
In a simple arrival ceremony, OPV-8301 and its crew headed by its Commanding Officer Captain Eleizer Ibarrientos PCG was warmly welcomed by the men and women Thailand Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center (Thai-MECC).
This very first and historic port visit of the Philippine Coast Guard vessel will include a series of engagements aimed at promoting mutual understanding and collaboration in order to enhance bilateral and multilateral relation as an active member of the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum (ACF).
Following the arrival ceremony, Thai-MECC officers visited BRP Gabriela Silang for a short vessel tour and discussed the activities ahead with the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for International Affairs (CG-5) Commodore Algier Ricafrente PCG.
Furthermore, the PCG and Thai-MECC will conduct bilateral meeting on 02 April 2025 which will discuss among others their shared goals and future collaborations which will be followed some people-to-people exchange and interaction.
In pursuit of promoting fellowship and cultural exchange, Thai-MECC will host the PCG with a simple lunch while the PCG will also host a dinner aboard OPV-8301.
Also present during the arrival ceremony were Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Fleet, Captain Glen Daraug PCG; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Operations (CG-3), Captain Dann August CariΓ±o; Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Intelligence Force, Commander Carlos Victor Carlos and other PCG senior officer and non-officers.
The visit is part of the Tri-country port visit mission of the PCG including Malaysia and Vietnam aimed at promoting mutual understanding and collaboration.
