The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Northern Luzon Command, AFP have collaborated on intensified Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) through the courtesy visit of Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Commander, Lieutenant General Fernyl Buca PAF, at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, yesterday, 03 June 2025.

The said undertaking is aligned with the vision of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., for the PCG to strategically heighten MDA within the countryโ€™s waters.

During the visit, PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, and Lieutenant General Buca PAF discussed the conduct of regular MDA within NOLCOMโ€™s Joint Operations Area (JOA). The NOLCOM delegation also presented its concept of operations on external security operations.

Lieutenant General Buca PAF expressed his gratitude to the PCG and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the PCG and NOLCOM towards national security.

Also present during the meeting were Deputy Commandant for Operations, Vice Admiral Edgar Ybaรฑez PCG; Acting Deputy Commandant for Administration, Rear Admiral Joeven Fabul PCG; Chief of Coast Guard Staff, Rear Admiral Hostillo Arturo Cornelio PCG; Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) Karagatan, Commodore Edward Ike De Sagon PN; Chief Unified Command Staff, Colonel Gracioso Merioles PA; and Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Plans U5, Colonel Thurman Fanugao PAF (MNSA).
