The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) responded to a distressed vessel, Motor Launch Princess Hwendhee in the vicinity waters off Malamawi Island, Basilan, yesterday 07 June 2025.

Said pursuit is a testament to the unwavering commitment of PCG in upholding its maritime safety function in accordance with the directives of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.

While MRRV-4404 is at anchor, said distressed vessel approached the PCG vessel and informed that they are taking in water due to a hull breach.

Immediately, MRRV-4404 deployed a submersible pump to control flooding and transferred the distressed vessel's goods and cargo to safety aboard the PCG vessel.

At around 10:22 AM, the BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) successfully rescued all six individuals and transferred half of their cargoes on board. The distressed vessel was partially submerged and was abandoned by its crew for safety.

Based on the report, all rescued individuals are in good health condition and were safely transported back to Zamboanga City.

PCG will remain committed to quickly respond in emergencies at sea.
