In support of the βBagong Pilipinasβ campaign of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has partnered with the Department of Justice - Philippines (DOJ) to enhance its maritime law enforcement capabilities through the conduct of a three-day training in Tagaytay City starting today, 02 July 2025.
The Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Education and Training, CG-12, led by Captain Noemie Cayabyab PCG, organized the event titled, βStrengthening Maritime Law Enforcement: DOJ Prosecutors' Capacity Building Training for the PCG,β participated by 25 Station Commanders from 16 PCG Districts.
During the opening ceremony, DOJ Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres and Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS) Commander, Commodore Oliver Tanseco PCG, urged the participants to maximize the capacity-building initiative towards a swifter and stronger maritime law enforcement in the Philippines.
Together with 11 DOJ prosecutors and one Coast Guard legal officer, the training aims to improve the investigative skills of PCG Station Commanders, strengthen PCG-DOJ collaboration, and foster interagency coordination.
According to the CG-12, the said PCG-DOJ initiative is aligned with the DOJβs Department Circular No. 020 dated 31 March 2023, which underscores the proactive role of prosecutors in case build-up through collaboration with the PCG and other law enforcement agencies to ensure effective case development and prosecution.
