The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) have enhanced maritime collaboration through the conduct of the 4th PCG-MARINA Forum in Cebu City on 02 July 2025.

PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, and MARINA OIC Administrator Sonia Malaluan, presided over the event that fostered stronger relationship towards a safer, more compliant, and more responsive maritime governance in support of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.’s β€œBagong Pilipinas” campaign.

During the event, the officials discussed the supernumerary gaps onboard Philippine-chartered specialized vessels, as well as current Onboard Training (OBT) deficiencies.

The MARINA Advisory No. 2025-09 on supernumeraries in Philippine-registered domestic ships and the joint memorandum circular on domestic passenger vessel capacity limits were also tackled.

Meanwhile, Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) Commander, Commodore Rejard Marfe PCG, shared about the PCG’s expanded presence, operational coverage, and harmonized maritime enforcement in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

According to the CGDSWM, the initiative reflected the shared commitment of the PCG and MARINA to secure and efficient maritime operations, anchored on national efforts towards public safety, maritime industry growth, and regional integration.
