Four (4) non-officers of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have successfully completed the Boatswain’s Mate “A” Course at the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Training Center in Yorktown, Virginia on 21 February 2020.

Petty Officer Third Class Andrew B Victoriano, Seaman First Class Francis G Delos Reyes, Seaman First Class Emmanuel Magallanes, and Seaman Second Class Mark Agustin D Carbajal were part of the 40 students who finished the 14-week course on deck operations such as open-water navigation, international rules and regulations, vessel responsibility, search and rescue planning, familiarization on navigation, and communication devices onboard.

Victoriano, Delos Reyes, Magallanes, and Carbajal were also comprehensively trained on boat trailering, boat towing, basic lifesaving, helicopter operations, knot tying and splicing, operating and passing a portable pump, open-water survival skills, as well as rescue and survival raft procedures.
