PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard Station Bataan apprehended 13 illegal fishers onboard three motorbancas engaged in illegal fishing using fine mesh nets or baby trawl in vicinity waters of Brgy Batangas II, Mariveles, Bataan last Sunday, February 18.
Upon arriving at the reported area, the team composed of personnel from CGSS Bataan, CGSS Lamao and Marine Environmental Protection Unit-Bataan, caught the fishermen onboard fishing bancas illegally operating. They apprehended the fishing bancas which were brought to CGS Bataan for investigation and proper documentation for filing of appropriate violations.

Owner/Operator: Mark Bucalan (Owner), Christian Mendoza (Crew), Gerald Nuestro (Crew) and Arman Cuaton (Crew)

• 1 set fine mesh net
• 360 meters rope
• 5 pcs cooler
• 5 pcs pail
• 3 pcs fuel container
• 2 pcs fishing pail (banyera)
• 7 kilos squid (pusit)
Name of fishing banca: F/BCA Shaine
Owner/Operator: Orlando Habagat (Owner), Manuel Austria (Crew), Allan Villega (Crew), Panche Habagat (Crew) and Ponel Raytos (Crew)

• 1 unit 4dr5 engine w/propeller and battery
• 1 set fine mesh net
• 360 meters rope
• 5 pcs cooler
• 2 pcs pail
• 5 pcs fuel container
• 2 pcs fishing pail (banyera)
• 8 kilos assorted fish
Name of fishing banca: F/BCA Everlasting
Owner/Operator: Antonio San Pedro (Owner), Ramil Sosa (Crew), Jerson Aquino (Crew) and Ronald Sosa (Crew)
Confiscated items
• 1 unit 4dr5 engine w/propeller and battery
• 1 set fine mesh net
• 360 meters rope
• 3 pcs cooler
• 3 pcs pail
• 6 pcs fuel container
• 3 pcs fishing pail (banyera)
• 1 kilo assorted fish
The team also found out that the fishing bancas have no pertinent documents and fishing gear license which violates the existing Mariveles Municipal Ordinance/Resolution No. 14-2001 dated 25 July 2001 “A Resolution Ordinance banning the use of fine mesh net in the municipal waters of Mariveles, Bataan.
Likewise, apprehended motorbancas and confiscated items together with fish catches were properly turned over to Ms Marilyn C Del Mundo, OIC-Municipal Agriculturist Office for safekeeping and proper disposition.
