PCG: The Commander of Coast Guard District South Western Mindanao, Captain Ronnie Gil Gavan, spearheaded the activation ceremony of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Western Tawi-Tawi with Congresswoman Ruby Sahali of Lone District Tawi Tawi and Mayor Bennie Oliveros of Turtle Islands Municipality as the guest of honor and speaker at Taganak Island, Tawi-Tawi last Tuesday, May 22.

As frontier unit of the PCG in the Philippine Sabah-Malaysia boundaries, the CGS Western Tawi-Tawi will ensure the effective delivery of PCG services in the far flung areas of Turtle Islands and to its people, further ensure strict enforcement of maritime laws where most of the vessels transiting in the area are left unguarded and unchallenged in terms of maritime safety.

CGS Western Tawi-Tawi’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) will include the whole waters of Turtle Islands and will be consisting of two Coast Guard Sub-Stations, CGSS Taganak and CGSS Bakungan as its operating units.
