PCG: The joint team of Philippine Coast Guard in El Nido and the Philippine Marines rendered rescue operations to a total of 48 people who were stranded triggered by heavy southwest monsoon or “habagat” in two separate events in El Nido last July 27.

While abovementioned team together with personnel from the Philippine National Police, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and Municipal Social Welfare Development was enroute to Barangay New Ibajay in El Nido to conduct relief operations, the team sighted residents waving and asking for help.

Immediately, the team from the Deployable Response Team of Coast Guard Station El Nido together with personnel of the Philippine Marines rendered necessary rescue operations to assist the five foreigners and three tour guides at vicinity of Nagkakalit Kalit Falls, Barangay Pasadena, El Nido who went stranded while conducting a tour.

Following the incident, the joint team also rendered assistance to another 40 tourists and residents who went stranded at Nacpan Beach, Barangay Bucana, El Nido. All persons were in good physical condition and properly turned over to MDRRMO-El Nido.

Subsequently, the team resumed their relief efforts to 60 evacuees in Barangay New Ibajay.
