The personnel of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) vessel 3009 recovered a floating sea turtle or locally known as “pawikan” at the vicinity of Lake Wharf Baliwasan, Zamboanga City today, February 17.

The incident was reported by the crew of M/V Queen Charity who sighted the sea turtle.

The team immediately recovered the sea turtle and later found out that it was already lifeless for unknown reason. The dead pawikan was immediately turned-over to Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for proper disposition.
