Joint personnel from Coast Guard District Palawan and Special Operations Unit-Palawan, Coast Guard Auxiliary District Palawan in cooperation with Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, United Nations Development Program, and Pilipinas Shell Foundation held a five (5) - day Water Safety and Rescue (WASAR) Training to thirty three (33) tour guides, boat operators and crew of Sitio Sabang, Brgy Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last 06-10 March 2017.

During the said training, the team conducted swimming proficiency demonstrations, lectures and tests on lifesaving techniques to include different water entries when saving a victim and different water approaches when rescuing the victim on water. 

Moreover, the participants were also trained to perform Basic Life Support (BLS) to include proper application of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Management of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO).

The training is relevant not only to train the participants to become rescue partners in search and rescue operations but also to increase their awareness on the importance of preparedness and equip them with the skills in waterborne search, rescue, and recovery operations.
