PCG: Coast Guard Station (CGS) Basco retrieved a drowned cadaver at the vicinity waters off Naide, Basco, Batanes yesterday, September 20.
A certain Mrs. Lilia Cordel, 51 years old, a resident of San Antonio, Basco, Batanes approached CGS Basco and reported that her son, Jayson Cordel was missing since 11 AM of September 19.
According to the report, the victim together with Mr. Peter Rico went on spear fishing at the vicinity waters off Naide, Basco, Batanes. It was also divulged that both men are under the influence of liquor during their activity. After an hour of spear fishing activity, Mr. Cordel was already nowhere to be found.
At 07:10 PM, CGS Basco conducted foot and mobile patrol and informed all fisher folks to report to the nearest Coast Guard Station and Sub-Station for any possible sightings of the victim.
At around 07:20 PM, a concerned fisherman reported to CGS Basco that there was a floating cadaver found along the area of Naide.
Immediately, CGS Basco together with CGSS Sabtang went to the said area and conducted retrieval operation. The cadaver was subsequently brought to Basco Port which was positively identified by his family.
The lifeless body of the victim was properly turned-over to PNP Basco for further investigation and proper disposition.
