PCG: Passenger motor banca “Roshan” carrying five (5) Chinese nationals allegedly capsized while transiting at the vicinity waters of Sitio Tabon, Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan on January 31, 2016 at 11:30 am.
A certain Ms. Rosana Caadlawon reported the incident to Coast Guard Station Caticlan thru a phone call on January 31 at 12:10 pm.
Immediately, Deployable Response Team (DRT) proceeded to the area of incident to verify the veracity of the report and to render necessary assistance.
Upon arrival thereat, M/bca“Roshan”, with all the 5 foreign passengers, was already beached at the shoreline of Sitio Tabon.
Investigation revealed that on January 31 at 9am, M/bca“Roshan” of 1.09GT/1.29NT, owned/operated by Ronald Marte and skippered by Jhon Mark Supena, 25 years old, departed Station 3, Brgy. Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island for island hopping activity with two (2) crew and five (5) passengers onboard. After few hours, they decided to return to Station 3.
At 11:30am of the same day, while Mbca Roshan was navigating at vicinity waters approximately six (6) meters from the shoreline of Sitio Tabon, said motor banca was battered by big waves and strong winds which caused her starboard outrigger to break and subsequently went half submerged.
All passengers were immediately rescued by the crew and safely brought them to the shoreline of the said barangay.
At 12:50pm of the same day, Deployable Response Team (DRT) rendered assistance to five (5) rescued Chinese passengers namely: Lin Sum Zhang, 38 years old; Feite Ping, 37 years old; Yajun Lu, 37 years old; Lu Luo Xie, 12 years old and Baigi Zhang, 8 years old, who were temporarily billeted at Paradise Hotel.
They were transferred to Mbca “Shingley 2” and were brought back to Station 3, Boracay Island and arrived thereat at 1pm.
Meanwhile, Mbca “Roshan” was turned-over to the owner for necessary repair and proper disposition.
