PCG: Speedboat “Blue Bird 1” of 1.33 GT, owned by Bluebird Aqua Sports Incorporated and skippered by Winneth Magno Mallada, accidentally went half-submerged while she was anchored at approximately 100 meters away from the shoreline of Brgy Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan yesterday.

Accordingly, said speedboat was battered by big waves while at anchor causing it to take in seawater and subsequently go half-submerged.

Upon seeing the distressed vessel, Coast Guard Sub-Station Boracay personnel dispatched its Deployable Response Team (DRT) onboard a PCG rubber boat to render necessary rescue assistance.

The team assisted Speedboat “Stingray” in towing Speed boat “Blue Bird 1” and successfully brought her to the shoreline of Banguyan Beach in Brgy. Yapak, Boracay Island for proper disposition.

CGSS Boracay further advised the boat captain to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
