PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard held a closing ceremony for the recently concluded Commandant’s Cup Summer Sportsfest 2016 at the HPCG Shaded Area today, May 31.

One of the hightlights of the event is the awarding ceremony of winners in the various sports lined-up for the celebration which was organized by the Coast Guard Special Service Office.

Based on the total team standings, the Coast Guard Fleet was hailed as the over-all champion while the Coast Guard Education and Training Command (CGETC), Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL), and PCG Headquarters bagged the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd runner-up, respectively.

The Coast Guard Fleet was victorious in bagging most of the medals by winning in the basketball (officer), badminton (men & women), volleyball, table tennis, swimming and dart events.

Said Ceremony was graced by PCG Commandant Rear Admiral William M Melad PCG and other junior officers together with the men and women from various PCG units within Cavite-Manila area.

The event aims to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among Coast Guardsmen through various sports.
