Coast Guard Commandant Rear Admiral William M Melad led the opening ceremony of the 18-day End the Violence Against Women Campaign at the Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard last November 25.
The Corporate Secretary of Women in Maritime Philippines (WIMAPHIL), Atty. Brenda V Pimentel, graced the activity as the guest of honor and speaker.
The activity aims to further strengthen the United Nation’s global campaign to attain a world free from all forms of violence against women and girls. It also seeks to promote the protection and rights of women in the maritime profession and service agencies.
In his speech, Rear Admiral Melad expressed his utmost support in all the programs relative to the Gender and Development (GAD) and assured that ending violence against women will be one of the advocacy campaigns of the PCG.
