PCG:  Coast Guard Station Zamboanga Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspection (VSEI) Team issued a first counting certificate to M/V Ciara Joie 5 for carrying an excess of 232 passengers, violating MARINA Memorandum Circular No. 120 as a result of the Mandatory Pre-Departure Inspection (MPDI) conducted by the team on December 5, 2015 at 3:20 pm.

M/V Ciara Joie 5, a passenger/cargo vessel of 266 Gross Tonnage, is owned and operated by Aleson Shipping Lines Incorporated and is skippered by Captain Jones Climaco. Said vessel was scheduled to depart Zamboanga City bound to Lamitan City, Basilan.

Subject vessel has an authorized passenger capacity of 370 passengers. However during the said inspection, it was found out that she was carrying a total of 602 passengers. 

The master was advised to settle the said violation prior to the vessel’s departure.

Further, at 3:40 of December 6, The VSEI team immediately notified the manager of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Zamboanga to deny granting of Departure Clearance to M/V Ciara Joie 5.
