PCG: Coast Guard personnel of BFAR vessel MCS-3003 successfully rescued a crew of a fishing motor banca after he was shot at Market 4, Fish Port Complex in General Santos City last Monday.
The crew of Mbca Marcheal 05, identified as Danilo Jañola, 47 years old, a resident of Purok Crisostomo, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City was shot at his back by a suspected gunman at midnight of 16 February.
Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Fishport received a report regarding the incident from a certain Virgilio Daloglog, assistant boat captain, and revealed that their vessel was suddenly fired at when they came across the boat of the unidentified suspect.
The MCS-3003 was present at the said vicinity and immediately assisted the victim. Jañola was then rushed to General Santos City District Hospital for medical treatment.
Furthermore, CGSS Fishport turned-over the incident report to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group for further investigation and advised the owner of Mbca Marchael 5 to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
