PCG: 115 passengers and six crew members were rescued by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Quezon after their motor banca accidentally ran aground 200 meters away from Real Port last Sunday, May 17.

Initial reports revealed that, M/B RPN 888, a passenger/cargo vessel, was conducting docking maneuver at Port of Real, Quezon when it ran aground to shallow part of the water due to low tide and strong current prevailing in the area. 

Immediately, elements of CGS Northern Quezon transferred all the rescued passengers and crew members to F/B Lady May and ferried them safely to Real Port.

M/B RPN 888 was was enroute to Real, Quezon from Polilio, Quezon and was skippered by Eduardo Jurado when the incident transpired. CGS Northern Quezothe Coast Guard also advised the master of the aground vessel to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
