PCG: Elements of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Rizal together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) released an aground whale at vicinity waters of Rizal, Palawan on August 29.

Reports revealed that CGSS Rizal received information from Mr Jirico Penlas that they found a whale at the shorelines of Sitio Lagpan in Brgy Punta Baja. Immediately, the team proceeded to the area together with BFAR personnel and conducted inspection to the subject whale. They found out that it was classified as humpback type with approximately 10 feet in length and 1.5 feet in width and was still alive. BFAR personnel rendered immediate treatment to its wounded body that suffered from dragging corals.

The team onboard aluminum boat and with the supervision of Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) towed the whale and released it into the deeper area of the sea.
