DOTC-PCG: A 61-year old fisherman went missing a day after Christmas at the vicinity waters of Nalaut Island in Busuanga, Palawan.

The victim identified as Ricardo Amazan, was reported missing by his son Ricar Dualos last December 27 after he failed to return home from a fishing activity.

Dualos, a resident of Barangay Panlaitan, Busuanga, requested assistance from the personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Talampulan to locate his father who reportedly conducted fishing activity at 3NM off Nalaut Island onboard M/Bca Aiza of 0.5GT.

Initial investigation by the Coast Guard revealed that Amazan departed Barangay Panlaitan on December 26 at around 3:00PM but has failed to return the day after.

As the Coast Guard personnel continue searching for Amazan, another fisherman was also reported missing in Busuanga, Palawan last December 26.

38-year old Ariel Alicando went to sea onboard M/Bca Alrem to conduct fishing venture using the hook and line method. Investigation revealed that Alicando traversed the same route as Amazan but has failed to return since.

CGSS Talampulan organized a search and rescue operation team onboard M/Bca Lemuel, owned and operated by Edwin San Jose of Brgy. Panlaitan. The team however had to temporarily suspend the SAR operations and return to station due to strong wind and big waves prevailing in the area.

On December 28, Ricardo Amazan appeared in CGSS Linapacan in good physical condition and informed that he encountered engine trouble and due to the inclement weather, he drifted towards the shoreline of Barangay San Miguel in Linapacan, Palawan.

In this connection, CGSS Talampulan advised all ships transiting in the above-mentioned area to be on the look-out for Ariel Alicando who remains missing and render necessary assistance and report to Coast Guard Station Coron at 09205654410 and 09296864122 if sighted.
