CAPTPUNZALAN

The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI) bestowed the Cavalier Award for Outstanding Performance in Coast Guard Operations to PCG National Capital Region – Central Luzon Deputy Commander CAPTAIN ROLANDO LIZOR N PUNZALAN JR during the traditional PMA Homecoming held at Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City last Saturday, 15 February 2014.

Captain Punzalan received the award with 11 other awardees from the AFP, PNP, Government and the Private Sector for their respective fields of endeavor. He is a member of PMA Tanglaw-Diwa Class of 1992.

Former Senator and Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery PANFILO M. LACSON, the ceremony’s Guest of Honor and Speaker, handed the award along with PMAAAI Chairman MGEN REYNALDO V REYES AFP (Ret) and PMA Superintendent VADM EDGAR L ABOGADO AFP. Secretary Lacson graduated in the PMA in 1971 and was likewise a recipient of the Cavalier Award in 1983.

Significantly, by virtue of PMAAAI Board Resolution No. 10-16 approved on 13 January 2011, the PCG was finally recognized as a separate Service Chapter of the PMAAAI. This was realized through the efforts of PCG Commandant VADM RODOLFO D ISORENA PCG, PMAAAI-PCG Chapter Chairman RADM CECIL R CHEN PCG and PMAAAI-PCG Chapter President COMMO DANILO M UBALDO PCG. Consequently, this paved the way for the addition of the Cavalier Award in Coast Guard Operations amongst the awards being given in previous years.
