This is Commodore Fran F Eden, one of the two 'first female generals' of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte formally approved her promotion on 15 February 2021.

Prior to 'landing of stars' on her shoulders, Commodore Eden ensured the protection of PCG medical personnel who conduct swab test to Filipinos and foreign nationals at the airports, seaports, and mobile testing centers amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the Commander of the Coast Guard Medical Service.

"We believe this is GOD'S WAY of recognizing us, WOMEN, for HOLDING THE LINE for the PCG. We have FINALLY BREACHED THE WALL. We are hopeful that this will HAPPEN AGAIN TO OUR SUCCESSORS, in GOD'S TIME," Commodore Eden shared during a live television interview on 01 March 2021 —  a day after she formally took her oath of office to none other than Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade.

Coincidentally, this milestone occurred in time for the commencement of the 2021 National Women's Month — an annual celebration of the strengths and contributions of every Filipina at home, in the workplace, and in their respective communities.

The PCG, through its gender and development (GAD) unit, ensures Coast Guardians, regardless of their gender, are given equal opportunities to grow and advance in their career, and are protected from all forms of gender-based discrimination or violence, as enshrined in the 1987 Constitution.

The Command recognizes the importance of women and the roles they perform towards the accomplishment of its mandates as a humanitarian armed service.

Hence, it flourishes a work environment that promotes gender equality and continues to keep its doors open to more Filipinas aspiring to become PATRIOTIC, COMPASSIONATE, and GOD-FEARING PUBLIC SERVANTS in the future.
