The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southern Mindanao has presented to the local media of Region 12 a former New People's Army (NPA) rebel who surrendered to the national government through the said PCG District at around 02:00 p.m. yesterday, 20 January 2022.

Through negotiation, the 52-year-old male alias “Jack” – a former NPA rebel and combat medic of Guerilla Front 73 – decided to surrender to the PCG District Southern Mindanao and expressed his intention to abandon the armed group to be able to live a normal life with his family.

“Jack” also surrendered the following paraphernalia: one 357 revolver, one handheld radio, and 10 rounds of M16 ammunition.

Afterward, the PCG assisted the surrenderee in processing his benefits through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the local government unit of Maitum, Sarangani Province.

According to PCG District Southern Mindanao Commander, CG Captain Rejard V Marfe, Guerilla Front 73 operates in the mountains of Banga, Lake Sebu, and T’boli in South Cotabato.
