The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southwestern Mindanao and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized Php 1.6 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga City yesterday, 06 February 2022.

The PCG received a report from the Enforcement and Security Service and Customs Police Zamboanga City that they found a truck loaded with approximately 48 cases of cigarettes inside sacks covered with Agar Agar seaweeds and dried fish.

The PCG and BOC immediately proceeded to the incident area and confirmed the veracity of the said report.

The joint law enforcement team further found out that the said truck was operated by a certain Abdul Jamal, a resident from Cawit, Pagadian City.

The smuggled items were brought by PCG personnel to the BOC office for investigation and proper disposition.
