The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has responded to a maritime incident involving LCT Lite Ferry 30 that ran aground at the vicinity waters off Polambato, Bogo, Cebu yesterday, 07 November 2021.
At around 03:17 a.m., the said vessel departed from Matnog, Sorsogon with 42 passengers, 49 truck drivers and cargo helpers, 34 rolling cargoes, and 22 crew members on board.
According to the master of LCT Lite Ferry 30, Mr. Neil Avila, the vessel ran aground while maneuvering outside the channel going to Polambato.
The PCG safely transferred the 42 passengers to Polambato Port, while the 49 truck drivers and cargo helpers stayed on board the vessel to monitor their cargoes.
The distressed vessel was extracted at around 12:30 p.m. Afterwards, it was docked at Polambato Port for the safe unloading of remaining passengers and cargoes.
The underwater inspection conducted by the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bogo, Coast Guard Special Operations Unit β Central Visayas, and Marine Environmental Protection Force β Central Visayas confirmed that no oil spill or leakage occurred at the said vicinity waters.
