Coast Guard District North Eastern Mindanao was activated 11th of November 2019 by virtue of NHQ-PCG General Orders Number 09 dated 09 January 2020. It comprises all the provinces in the CARAGA Region – Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.
Along with the said activation is the transfer of 5 stations to CGDNEM, to wit; CGS Agusan del Norte, CGS Surigao del Norte, CGS Dinagat Islands and CGS Siargao – formerly under Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, and CGS Surigao del Sur formerly under Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao.
It was activated as the 13th Coast Guard District to fully cater the operational needs of the region, particularly the safety at sea, maritime security and law enforcement, search and rescue services, and protection of the marine environment.
The Headquarters Coast Guard District North Eastern Mindanao is strategically situated at Tiniwisan, Brgy Ampayon, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte being the regional center of the CARAGA Region.
