Law enforcement operatives condemned and disposed Php 300 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City today, 15 December 2021.
The 8,250 master cases of smuggled cigarettes were seized in different law enforcement operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi from May to November 2021.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southwestern Mindanao Commander, CG Commodore Luisito S Sibayan, and BOC District Collector Segundo Sigmundfreud Z. Barte Jr. joined the initiative.
The BOC recognized the contribution of the PCG, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Marines, Philippine Navy, National Bureau of Investigation, Joint Task Force Zamboanga, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Internal Revenue, local government units, and other concerned stakeholders in the effective anti-smuggling operations in the region.
The condemned goods were disposed of at the sanitary landfill located in Barangay Salaan, Zamboanga City.
