The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have forged a partnership for counter-white area operations to maintain internal peace and security in Southern Tagalog.Β
According to the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog, the PCG became part of the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC) after the passage of Resolution Number 11-2021 at the national level to foster unity and cooperation among military, police, and Coast Guard personnel in addressing security challenges.
The following PCG, AFP, and PNP officials signed the Joint Letter Directive for Counter-White Area Operations (CWAO) during the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council at Camp General Mateo Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal yesterday, 04 July 2023:
Β
1) Brigadier General Jose Augusto Viareal, Acting Deputy Commander of 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army
2) Police Colonel Roel Rodolfo, Deputy for Regional Director for Operations of Police Regional Office Region IV-A
3) Coast Guard Rear Admiral Hostillo Arturo Cornelio, Commander of Coast Guard District National Capital Region - Central Luzon
4) CG Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla, Commander of Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog
The directive aims to establish cooperation among military, police, and Coast Guard personnel by defining their respective roles and responsibilities to maintain internal peace and security and support the development thrusts of the national government.
Moreover, it provides a systematic approach against the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in CALABARZON, specifically to prevent CTG recruitment, alliance-building, and resource generation efforts of the remaining armed components of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
