PCG: About 1,000 kilos of assorted fish were confiscated by the joint elements of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Real, Special Operations Unit, Bantay Dagat and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Real, Quezon last Wednesday, March 04.

The confiscated fishes were allegedly caught through blast fishing at Barangay Ungos by the crew of M/Bca Ada-Jay.

The team chanced upon the said motor banca while conducting anti-illegal fishing operation at the area.Β

The team boarded and inspected Mbca Ada-Jay, a cargo boat, owned by a certain Emiliano Delova and skippered by Capt Rolly Capollo, plying the route of Brgy Katakian, Patnanungan to Real Quezon.

After inspection of Mr. Domingo Torres, fish examiner of BFAR, the fish cargoes were positively identified as caught by blast fishing. The team confiscated the assorted fish and brought to BFAR office for proper disposition while Mbca Ada-Jay was placed under the custody of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Quezon.

The owner of confiscated fish cargoes were invited by the BFAR and Bantay Dagat personnel for filling of appropriate charges in violation of RA 8850 otherwise known as Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.
