PCG: About 435 kilos of fishes caught through blast fishing were confiscated by the Philippine Coast Guard in Northern Quezon last Sunday, May 3.

The illegally caught fishes were found onboard passenger/cargo vessel Mike Denmark and cargo boat M/B Jelly during a random inspection of cargoes conducted by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Quezon, Special Operations Unit, Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (M-FARMC) and Bantay Dagat.

The Joint Anti-Illegal Fishing operation at the vicinity waters of Barangay Ungos and Barangay Poblacion 61, Real, Quezon revealed that said fishes were caught using dynamite.

Domingo Torres, BFAR fish examiner, confirmed that the fishes were caught through blast fishing and brought the same to M-FARMC Office for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, the two motor boats were placed under the custody of CGS Northern Quezon while awaiting for charges to be filed by BFAR and Bantay Dagat.
