PCG: A Korean national was declared dead on arrival by the Metropolitan Doctors Medical Clinic in Boracay, Aklan after suffering from pulmonary edema while diving with his fiancé last Tuesday, August 25.

According to diving instructor Ivan Tabuna, the victim, Ho Dong Eom, 31, experienced difficulty in breathing a few minutes after they have re-surfaced from diving.

The Deployable Response Team of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay found the victim in an unstable condition onboard the floating platform of Marine Walk Helmet Diving and brought him to the nearest shoreline.

Eom, however, was pronounced dead due to pulmonary edema, or the fluid accumulation in the lungs. His remains were later turned-over to his fiancé for proper disposition while the owner of Marine Walk Helmet Diving was advised to file a marine protest regarding the said incident.
