The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a maritime incident involving a commercial fishing boat that CAPSIZED at the vicinity waters between Tictabon Island and Mampang, Zamboanga City, yesterday, 30 November 2022.

At around 10:05 p.m., the PCG received a phone call from a resident of Mampang informing them about the capsizing of F/B JAYA-1 with 11 fishermen onboard, including the boat captain.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group initially rescued two of the 11 fishermen.

At around 10:20 p.m., the PCG Station Zamboanga deployed a team that rescued four fishermen, all in good physical condition.

An hour later, a Coast Guard floating asset carrying another PCG search and rescue (SAR) team departed Zamboanga City to provide further assistance.

They found five fishermen on top of the floating capsized fishing boat approximately 2.5 nautical miles from the shoreline of Mariki Island, Zamboanga.

Consequently, a Philippine Navy floating asset arrived at the vicinity waters and towed the capsized fishing boat to the nearest shoreline.
