The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rendered Skipper’s Farewell Cruise Ceremony for CG Commodore Allan O Corpuz in honor of his accomplishments and contributions during his assignment aboard ship at Pier 13, Port Area, Manila on 15 March 2022.

CG Commodore Corpuz will be retiring on 25 March 2022 after 36 years of public service.

Among the honoree’s vessels of assignment were BRP Limasawa (AE-79) and BRP Ilocos Norte (SARV-3501). He then became the Commanding Officer (CO) onboard BFAR 30-meter patrol boats, including MCS-3006, MCS-3008, and MCS-3003.

CG Commodore Corpuz also became the CO of search and rescue vessels (SARVs), including BRP Nueva Vizcaya (SARV-3502) and BRP Pampanga (SARV-5605 formerly SARV-003) where he eventually completed his “Command at Sea” stint.

Among CG Commodore Corpuz’ notable missions as skipper aboardship were:

1) Several sovereignty/assertion patrol missions in Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal) in 2012;

2) Boracay Cup Regatta in February 2013;

3) Successful rescue of 78 people including 20 children in distress at 100 nautical miles off Palawan in May 2013;

4) Rescue mission for 104 evacuees, 57 of them were children, driven away by hostilities between Malaysian security forces and followers of Sultan Jamalul Kiram from Sabah, Malaysia in March 2013;

5) Successful relief operation in connection with the Zamboanga Siege in September 2013 and in Batanes in October 2013; and

6) Successful relief operations in Marawi City in connection with the Marawi Siege in December 2017.

With such overwhelming accomplishments, under the command of the honoree, the BRP Pampanga was recognized as the “Most Coveted PCG Ship of the Year” in 2013.

During his speech, CG Commodore Corpuz expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the men and women of the Coast Guard Fleet who organized the said event.

“The Philippine Coast Guard is in its growing phase, acquiring highly technological ships and air assets which are essential in expanding our iron-clad commitment of public service in terms of protecting territorial integrity and extending maritime safety and security,” CG Commodore Corpuz said.

Furthermore, he advised all personnel and junior officers of the Coast Guard Fleet to maximize their learning experiences aboardship.

“Learning is a life-long commitment. Like buildings and structures, every person is under construction. Embrace the good virtues and teachings imbibed by your Commanding Officers and Senior Officers for your welfare and for the welfare of the organization,” the honoree emphasized.
